Gearbox Type: 9-Speed Automatic (Torque Converter)
The 4x4 variants are equipped with a ZF-sourced 9-speed automatic transmission. This gearbox provides a wide spread of ratios, including a very low first gear for crawling and multiple overdrive gears for fuel-efficient highway cruising.
Drive Type: 4WD (Jeep Active Drive)
The Jeep Active Drive system includes a rear-axle disconnect that seamlessly switches between two-wheel and four-wheel drive to increase fuel efficiency when 4WD isn't needed. The Trailhawk trim adds a "Low" mode for extreme rock crawling.
Clutch Type: Multi-Plate Wet Clutch
In the automatic variants, the power is managed via a torque converter with a lock-up clutch. Manual variants (where available) utilize a heavy-duty single-plate dry clutch designed to withstand the high torque output of the diesel engine.
