Gearbox & Drivetrain: 7-Speed DSG / Front-Wheel Drive
Following global trends, the 2026 GTI is exclusively paired with the lightning-fast 7-speed DSG (Dual-Clutch Transmission). Power is sent to the front wheels via an Electronic Differential Lock (XDS) and a front-axle locking differential (VAQ) which works with the Vehicle Dynamics Manager to eliminate understeer during hard cornering.
